Patti was awake when I returned to our room. I filled her in on the message about Roswell’s.

“This is crazy,” Patti said. “I mean, it’s probably nothing. But we have to go. What’s the menu like?”

“We’re not going to actually eat. I just need to see who shows up. Maybe the man from the haunted house has information for me.”

“What if it’s a date?”

“What do you mean?”

“He gave you a note with the name of a fancy restaurant and the time written on it. Sounds like a date to me.”

“I don’t know that it’s fancy. It’s not a date.”

“What did he say when he handed it to you? Is he hot?”

“He just said to come back next month when the haunted house is finished. But he did say there was more info on the back of the flyer.”

“He did? Well, there you go.”

“I don’t know. It could be nothing, but it also could be that this man is trying to help us. I told him about Leonard and he did seem a little concerned. At least he acted that way. It’s definitely not a date.”

“Well, we can’t show up and peep through the window. We need to sit down and order.”

“What if it’s a trap? I guess that sounds crazy. But the guy who followed me at the casino could be waiting there for us.”

“So what? What’s he going to do? Actually though, I’m wondering if we should go in disguise. That way we can arrive early, grab a table in the corner. If someone does show up, we can see what they do. Like in a spy movie. Like in Austin Powers. And it’s probably nothing anyway. We’ll have a nice meal.”

“I don’t know.”

“Well, I’m curious now. I’m going no matter what.”

“You can’t go there alone, Patti.”

“Then it’s settled.”
